Works to Communal Heating System | |
Estate Management | Updated: 21/11/2018 |
Works to the estate's communal (district) heating system will start shortly. The works involve the replacement of old and end-of-life equipment in the boiler room and pump rooms and aim to improve the system's reliability and provide those managing it with greater control over its performance. The works will be carried out during December (2018), January (2019) and February (2019). The works in each pump room are being carried out in order of proximity to the communal boiler room with work to those blocks closest to the boiler room taking place first. The works to each pump room are expected to take a week. Works will commence on a Monday and be completed by the Friday. There will be an outage on the second and third day (Tuesday and Wednesday). The flats supplied by the pump room being worked on will be without heating and hot water from 9am on the Tuesday morning until 6pm on the Wednesday afternoon. Portable heaters will be made available from the Concierge office for those who need them. All residents are to receive £20 in compensation (£10 per day) for the loss of heating and hot water. The works are expected to start at Greaves Tower on Monday 3rd of December. All flats fed from the Greaves Tower pump room (Greaves Tower and some of the adjacent walkways) will be without heating and hot water from 9am on Tuesday 4th of December until 6pm on Wednesday 5th of December. Works will then proceed to Dartrey Tower the following week. Works in Dartrey Tower will start on Monday 10th December with an outage from 9am on Tuesday 11th of December until 6pm on Wednesday 12th of December. Works will then cease for the Christmas and New Year holidays before restarting with Ashburnham Tower in the New Year. The exact dates of the works to the five remaining pump rooms in the New Year are yet to be confirmed. The Council will be writing to all residents shortly to confirm the dates of the works in their blocks, instructions on how they can obtain a portable heater for use during the outages, and instructions on how to claim the £20 in compensation. This page will be updated with any new information as soon as it is available, including the exact dates of the works in Ashburnham, Whistler, Berenger, Blantyre and Chelsea Reach Towers, as soon as they are known.
