Reaching the Gold Standard | |
RBK&C News | Updated: 09/12/2010 |
Seven of Kensington and Chelsea's tenants and residents associations were given the Council's prestigious Gold Standard Award at a ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour. The Deputy Mayor, Cllr Maighread Condon-Simmonds, presented the awards to Kensington Court Residents Association, Clydesdale House Residents Association, Lancaster West Tenants and Residents Association, World's End Residents Association, The Kensington Society, Victoria Road Area Residents' Association and St Helen's Residents' Association. These associations now join nine other associations awarded the Gold Standard in previous years. The Gold Standard is awarded to associations demonstrating excellence in seeking out and listening to residents' views. The award includes a one-off grant of £500 and an invitation to an annual "Gold Standard" event, with the opportunity to meet Councillors and key partners. Councillor Tim Ahern, Cabinet Member for Civil Society, said: "I want to congratulate the organisations who have reached the Gold Standard this year. Tenants and residents associations play an important part in championing local involvement and they are excellent examples of residents working together to improve their areas. I hope that each of the 400 associations in the borough will now be looking to reach the Gold Standard in how they represent their residents and members."
