Christmas Tree Recycling Collection Service | |
Information | Updated: 04/01/2006 |
The Council's Recycling department will be collecting Christmas Tress for recycling (composting) free of charge. Last year the Council collected a record number of your Christmas Trees for recycling and used them to produce mulch. The mulch was used to improve the soil in the Royal Borough's parks and open spaces. The Borough went on to win the top prize in the London in Bloom awards and a silver award at the Britain in Bloom finals. Christmas trees will be collected for recycling on specific dates between Tuesday 3rd of January and Monday 16th of January inclusive. For the World's End Estate the relevant collection points and dates are as follows: Blantyre Street Edith Grove You should leave your tree on the far side of the pavement, for the recycling crew to collect. Trees (without their decorations) should be put out for collection by 7am on the day of the collection or after 9pm the night before. Trees will only be collected for recycling if left out for collection on the designated collection days. Please note that the Christmas tree collection days are different to those for your normal rubbish. It is an offence under the Environmental Protection Act (1990) to place your tree on the highway for collection other than on your designated collection day. Trees placed out in this manner will NOT be composted. You may also deliver your Christmas tree yourself to the following collection points between Tuesday 3rd and Monday 16th of January: Holland Park Nursery Yard, Abbotsbury Road, W14 From Tuesday 17th of January all trees will be collected by the normal rubbish collection service on the usual scheduled days. These trees will be landfilled and not recycled. More information is available from the Council's website.
